Recommended initial subwoofer settings

These settings are a good starting point for getting the maximum performance from your Rythmik subwoofer.

The recommended initial setting with HT:

0) Low pass switch set to EXT/12 (not 80Hz/24).
1) power voltage set to 110-120v (for US, Canada, Mexico)
2) PEQ (Parametric EQ) set to Off
3) PEQ Gain doesn't matter with PEQ set to Off
4) PEQ Bandwidth doesn't matter with PEQ set to Off
5) PEQ Frequency doesn't matter with PEQ set to Off
6) Delay adjustment set to 0 (will be adjusted from HT receiver).
7) Crossover adjustment set to max first (then gradually dial down for best integration).
8) Level at 12 o'clock to begin with. Gradually move it higher to balance sub with front speakers.
9) Extension filter switch: 14Hz
10) Damping switch: high.

9, 10 can trade off max extension vs max output. If one really likes to play loud, he needs to set to 28Hz/low damping.

Ok, I'm confused a bit. Why have the calculator, if in #6 you have

"6) Delay adjustment set to 0 (will be adjusted from HT receiver)"?

Are these releated?

Setting it to 0 and let the AVR's distance menu do all the required phase/delay adjustment. It does not suggest 0 delay is the final solution.

Yes, LEVEL is the volume level (gain) of the subwoofer. Ultimate volume is controlled by the AV receiver, preamp, or integrated amp.

Rythmik has a curious recommendation to use the crossover to fine tune or further integrate the subwoofer with the main speakers. As the crossover is usually set by the AV receiver, or in my case a stereo preamp with bass management, it seems it would be unnecessary to use the crossover dial on the Rythmik at all. Indeed, most manufacturers and experts recommend setting the subwoofer crossover at the highest frequency to "get out of the way" of the AV receiver crossover. But, Rythmik are the experts when it comes to their subwoofers and if they say one can further integrate subwoofer and speakers by adjusting the subwoofer crossover I'll try it. Good Luck!
