    Default Living Room Setup Help

    Hi Folks,
Another WAF thread. Just moved from a home with a dedicated HT to one where our main family room will be the primary watching/listening area. Viewing distance is approx 15ft and open to a dining room/kitchen on one side. Using a 100" ALR screen with a Ultra short throw projector located 20" below the screen on the media console. Current setup is a Sonos ARC w/sub and rear surrounds. We have both been very underwhelmed by the experience. Especially dialog and dialog clarity. To be able to hear dialog clearly, we really have to turn it up along with other sound/channels. (I've tried their calibration and settings to no avail. I've finally talked my wife into looking into a 5.1 setup in the living room. I know that I have to make it look good and seamless as possible to avoid a freak out. I've been a long time AA lurker and after having a half dozen brands over the last decade really want to go with AA for my setup. Could use some advice on optimal setup for my room keeping need WAF as well.

    Equipment:
    Receiver - Will purchase/upgrade shortly.
    AMP - Emotiva UPA-7 (125W/Ch 8ohm, 185W/Ch 4ohm. All channels driven)
    Sub - SVS PB12-NSD

Because the UST projector sits right under the screen I can't place a Center on the media console. Options are Wall mount (I have 18" to wall munt under the screen) or put in the center top shelf of the media cabinet. The shelves are adjustable so should be able to make most centers fit. Will be 24" off the ground so should be fine and very close to ear level. Listening is 80% HT/TV, 20% Music

    Option 1 - 3x HTM-200SE2
    Option 2 - 1 x HTM-200SE2, 2x CBM-170SE
    Option 3 - 1 x Sierra-1 V2 Center, 2x Sierra-1 V2

Since I have a sub I'd like to stick with bookshelves. Didn't choose the 340s due to size. They are larger black boxes and WAF would be an issue.

    Would appreciate your advice. Cheers!

    Welcome!

Go for the Sierras if budget allows. Great sound and quality, and they have a nice selection of finishes.

    What receiver(s) are you considering?

Option 3 is by far the best choice, but of course the most expensive. My main HT is 4x S1V2 with a Horizon center, and the S1V2s are really terrific as HT speakers.

If money is an issue I'd take Option 1 over Option 2.
    HT1: Titan Horizon V2, 4x S1V2, and Rythmik E15HP2 & L22
    HT2: S-2EXs and Duo V2 C&S, and Rhythmik L12
    Study: Sierra-LXs. Office: Sierra-1s. Kitchen: HTM-200s.
Brother owns CMT-340s and dad has a pair of CBM-170s.

Option 3 if within budget. Save up or option 1 if can’t wait.
