    Default Fully Automate Audyssey using MultiEQ Editor, Rew and Advanced Script A1 Evo OCA

    I have my original 340SE, HTM 200's and HSU VTF-3 MK2 I purchased directly from Ascend back in 2006. Still going strong after 18 years. Been using Denon AVR's for a while now with the $20 MultEQ XT for calibration purposes.

    I stumbled across this gentleman's YouTube video and then the AVSForum thread. He calls himself OCA- Obsessive Compulsive Audiophile and his solution is called A1 EVO OCA. He developed a script that extracts the measurement data from Audyssey app (.ady file) and feeds it directly into REW. The final product is an enhanced ady file that you feed back to the app, then load to your AVR. It upends what we traditionally think about crossover settings, large vs small speaker settings, etc... no mic needed just the free REW software and $20 Multeq app.

    I tried his most recent script and wow, what a difference. He explains his approach on the video. Responds to all questions. Reminds of Dave in that he is very transparent and passionate about what he is doing. I don't have any vested interest, the improvement he has made to my older speakers is amazing. Just like to see what you folks think once you give it a try.

    I have been following along with OCA for about a year now and have tried many of his room correction algorithms. His new method is much more user friendly and sounds fantastic

    I have a pair of sierra lx and diy 15 inch subwoofer in a fairly large room with a used denon 3400h all dialed in with OCA’s algorithm. Not a particularly expensive set up but likely the best sound I have ever had compared to much more costly equipment.

    Can’t recommend the sierra lx and OCA enough.

    Thanks for sharing. I am considering upgrading from my older 340SE's LCR. My current setup is 5.1.2 with Denon x1800h and in-ceiling speakers for atmos duty. I moved several years ago. Had a big "man cave" now have a 11x14 den I use as a media room. So HTM's are in storage, surrounds now are small satellites.

    On my shortlist are the LCR Sierra LX and the newer 340SE2's. With the LX how is it for watching movies? Also, how did OCA's algorithm set your LX's?

    While I don't use Audessy/OCA, I do use LX's upfront and 200SE as surrounds...only a 5.1 config with a Rythmik F-15HP. The electronics are an Anthem AVM 70(using Genesis/ARC for room eq) and Purifi/Hypex based multichannel amp.

    It all sits in my living room and is a multi-purpose setup...music/HT, and is great for both.
    Keep in mind, the LX's will require more power to get to the same loudness than the 340SEs.
    That said, I don't think you'll go wrong either way, it is about how much money you want to spend.

    main/living room (5.1):
    - LG OLED 77" C3
    - Anthem AVM70, VTV AMPLIFIER 5 Channel 3+2 Purifi + Hypex
    - Sierra LX for LCR, HTM-200SE for surrounds, Rythmik F15HP
    - Eversolo DMP-A6, Oppo 205, AppleTV
    bedroom (2.1):
    - Vizio 65" P9
    - WiiM Ultra, Fosi V3 Mono x 2
    - Sierra Luna v2, RSL-10e sub
    - AppleTV
    I use Roon to manage the music streaming.

    OCA v3 has the LX crossed over at 40hz to the subwoofer. That’s with the ports plugged and up against the front wall so there is some reinforcement. Other iterations of the algorithm have had a higher crossover but I think the 40hz crossover sounds best which is a testament to how great the bass is on the LX.

    I was a little worried about using the LX for movies but I rarely listen above -15db and it is plenty loud and dynamic in a large living room. I will try external amplification eventually but this sounds so good I doubt I could improve it.

    Curtis,

    Thank you for your advice. I have read overwhelmingly positive reviews about the LX's. I sit about 9' from the front stage and listen well below reference level (low to mid 60's on absolute volume scale of 0-98, reference would be 80). I know the LX's is a bit more but sounds like they may be worth it over the 340SE2's.

    Now just have to see what I can do with all my older Ascend speakers.

    I've not heard the 340SE2's, but do have a pair of LX's. The LX is an awesome speaker and gave my Towers (V1 at the time) a run for the money. I've since upgraded to ELX Towers which took them to the next level. Anyways, I think you'd be very happy with the LX over the 340's, even at the additional cost.

    You could always use the 340's elsewhere (another room, surrounds, etc) if a need or try to sell them.
    * LG OLED65E6P, BenqHT2050A
    * Anthem AVM90, Rogue ST100, VTV Pascal 7 ch
    * Sierra Towers/Horizon (all ELX RAAL), S2EXv2 surrounds, HTM200SEx4 heights, Rythmik E15HPx2
    * VPI Classic 1+ (VTA & Fatboy Gimbal), PE Eagle/RR, VAS NOVA, Soundsmith Paua, Manley Chinook, Bob's Devices SUT, SugarCube 1 mini
    * Oppo 203 & 103D, EverSolo DMP-A6
    * miniDSP Flex, Audiosensibility & Blue Jeans cables, Symposium & Isoacoustics, GIK
    * For RDJ: Anthem MRX720, Sierra LX, Luna Duo v2 center, CXNv2, TBD

    That is useful information. Thank you.

    Thanks. Good to hear. So many options now compared to 2006. Crazy. Definitely will have to find them a new home.
