Just get (1) 50LB. bag of play sand from Home Depot. You will have plenty!
I think it's under $4.00.

Thanks for the quick reply, Mag. Picked it up today. Now, shouldn't there be a plug of some type for the hole in the top of the stand?

If they are like my stands, you will need to fill them with the top plate removed.

There is no top plate on the TP-24 stands (for the 340Mains). Just a hole cut in the top of the stand.Originally Posted by Mag_Neato
Hi Lee,
Sorry.. no plug for the opening on the top of the stands... No real need for one
Another option I have seen is to use steel shot instead of the sand. It is a lot less messy, and there is no chance if anything living in the sand.
Just make sure you use steel shot, not lead shot.

Why steel and not lead shot? Also, where can you get steel shot? I will be filling my stands but I'm not sure if I want sand or not.
Many are worried about lead poisioning. Lead shot is banned most places for waterfowl hunting. Shot can be found at gun shops advertising reloading supplies. If there is a skeet range in your area some of them sell used shot.

The typical playground sand you buy at Home Depot is cleaned, sterilized, and non-toxic.
