Hi dew,
If you just want a disc spinner and plan to use HDMI out for audio/video, then the OPPO may not be necessary. The Marantz will handle the audio decoding just fine. The OPPO 105 is very feature-rich and flexible, plus it includes an exceptional analog output stage. For example, if you'd plan to use the analog stereo or 7.1 outputs from the disc player, the OPPO may sound better than your Marantz. I know the previous model, the BDP-95, was heralded as one of the best sounding universal players available. The 105 adds even more features including using it as a DAC for digital sources.
That said, the OPPO won't have the same level of room correction and bass management as your Marantz. It really comes down to want to do. In all honesty, if you just need a disc spinner and are happy controling everything from the Marantz, save your cash and pass on the OPPO 103/105. There are plenty of excellent universal players out there for less than $300.
If you're interested in more details on the OPPOs, I recommend you read all the product literature and reviews. It's quite informative.

Thanks DR. So what do you think would pair up with the av7701 and outlaw amp. Going to make a jump on some goodies now that my wife is out of school.
