I'm gonna pick up a Denon 3805. It's got almost all of the features I want, but I wish it had a better amp section.
-
jbliz, I have read where the new Denon is very highly regarded. If I was going to buy a new receiver the 3805 is the one that I would get.
-
Nice receiver. You can always add external amps down the road.

If you can hold off til the end of Dec., Outlaw will be introducing their new 1070 receiver. Rated at 7 x 65 watts, all channels driven. It will have all the latest formats and can be software upgraded via that USB port. It will also include TWO DVI inputs, something I don't see on the DENON, and some type of surround decoding for headphones. All that PLUS bass management for the direct inputs for UNDER $1000!!

Mag_Neato,
I read a post of yours a while back that mentioned the Outlaw 1070, so I did a bit of research. That is a hell of a unit, but I can't wait until december. The only thing the 1070 lacks is an auto-setup feature and a firewire input for multichannel audio. I'd still buy it though.

Oh well, there's always e-bay and Audiogon should you desire to sell the 3805 once the 1070 comes out!

i just picked up a 3805. i think the amp is more than adequate for ascends. i ran 6 and 4 ohm speakers on it w/ ease and there was very little heat coming out (i'd call it a little warm). it's a beast of an AVR.
VERY interested in hearing your impressions as this is the same setup i'll be picking up...
