    Default Sub choice

Trying to decide between 2 Rythmik L12’s or 2 Rythmik F12-400’s for a setup that will consist of 5xSierra 1’s for LCR and surrounds. My setup will be located at one end of a great room 45’x15’x9’. Current setup is Sonos arc with 2 gen3 subs and I am happy with those subs. Don’t need subs to rattle my windows or thump my chest. I like accurate sound quality. Will place each sub on the sides of couch of my MLP

That's a really big space. I'd go with the F12s at least and would seriously consider E15s.
    Titan Horizon V2, 4x S1V2, and Rythmik L22 & L12 in HT1; Sierra-LXs in study; S-2EXs and Duo V2 C&S in bedroom; S-1s at work; HTM-200s in kitchen. Brother owns CMT-340s and dad has a pair of CBM-170s.

Don’t know if this makes any difference in my decision process but my setup has my tv against wall on one side and MLP on couch 9’ away with another wall behind the couch. I don’t have it set up with the open dining area and kitchen behind me. The open area is to the left of my setup with the subs pointing to the tv

I agree with Sunbyrne. F12, even better a 15 or 18 inch sub(s) for that size room. Buy once, cry once…as they say 😊

As to L12 vsF12-400, the latter has 100 wpc more, a bit more output, and more features on the amp (peq, xlr & rca input) from a quick glance at the Rythmik site. To me, that would be worth the price difference. Only you know if it is to you.

Thanks for the feedback. I’ve been on several different sites and I am really interested in a couple of Hsu subs. The two I am interested in are the VTF-3 MK5 HP and VTF-TN1 Both are 15” and ported. Also both are priced less than Rythmik. My research shows they are California company with a good reputation with their products and customer service

I’ve heard Hsu subs and they are indeed good and yes, Hsu has a good reputation. However, I don’t think the Hsu subs I’ve heard sound as good as Rythmiks. Rythmiks are tighter with better transient response. But for pure output per dollar the Hsus are hard to beat.

If you’re willing to consider ported subs, given your situation I’d go with a pair of Rythmik FVX12s.

Any consideration for buying a single larger sub 18" and adding another later. The 18" will extend lower and offer you more extension down low that even dual 12s can't....sure duals will give you a better even response at listening area but lack the pressurized tactile feel of larger more capable sub.

    Jmo,
I talked with Brian from Hsu and after describing my home theater setup he recommended going with one of their 15” ported subs and put it in the right rear corner which is the only real corner I have. He said that if I felt I needed more bass then I could order another in the future. That maybe the way to go. I have 2 Sonos subs that have small 6” drivers so maybe 1 15” driver will be enough. I realize that I will miss out on the discount by not ordering a pair but maybe it’s better to start with one.

Yeah I was considering the Rythmik FVX12 (still considering) but the Hsu is priced lower and it uses a 15” driver vs Rythmik 12”. Also this may be a small factor but the Hsu is in a satin paint finish vs Rythmik is vinyl covered

Brian from Hsu or Brian from Rythmik?

Hsu makes high value subs, I have owned more than a few, but IMO my Rythmik and the ones I have heard, are definitely more articulate...I am with Sunbyrne.
