    Default Re: Introducing the Sierra-LX!!!

I just received and setup a pair of LX in our home theater last night then spent about 6 hours testing content.

Out of the gate.. I LOVE these speakers!

I was a little concerned that they would be overkill because I wanted to use them as rear surrounds. Currently I'm using RAAL Towers + Horizon (V1s) up front with S2 EX as side surounds and original S2 in rear surround duty. A pair of PowerSound 21" subs are rounding out the low end.

I've had this setup for a while now and always felt that the front stage was stealing the show (as one would expect from the Towers!). Panning between the speakers was wonderful but I wanted a little more weight and scale from the back of the room. I'd actually debated borrowing a friends towers and setting them up as rear surrounds to see how that struck me but never got around to it.

Then one day, my wife wanted some speakers for her office.. and I had an idea! I moved the S2s to the office and snagged the LX to replace them.

This is exactly what I've been looking for. Dave said these speakers sound big and they really do. I'd swear I had towers back there if I didn't know any better.
I watched a bit of House of the Dragon and Masters of the Air, played a little Diablo 4 and Halo to pan around and target the LX specifically with familiar sounds. These are such a great match with the other ribbon speakers in the room and so smooth. I think the vertical directivity of the titan vs the raal is making a big difference in providing that large wall of sound behind our chairs.

I tried crossing the LX at 60 and 80Hz but couldn't settle on a preference so I'll leave them at 80 for now.

Can't wait to get home tonight and fire up a blockbuster or two. Dune might just be the ticket.

    Thank you again Ascend!
