Question Ascends with a Panasonic digital receiver?

    Hello,

I was about to order a pair of 340s for evaluation when I read elsewhere that my Panny XR50 receiver may have a problem with the Ascends' impedence. More specifically this may have to do not with minimum impedence but with the steepness of the impedence curve.

Anyone using a Panny digital receiver? What has your experience been?

I don't see why you would have any problem the 340s are 91dB in sensitivity. I'd give Dave F. the spec on your Panny and let him be your guide.

I'm running 340s off the "digital" JVC RX-F10 for two channel and it is quite nice.

Uh oh. I have the XR50. I just read some posts on AVS about the XR50 shutting down when running with Ascends. Is it because the Ascends dip significantly lower than 8ohms?

Doesn't seem like the XR55 has a problem, but that would mean that I would need to sell my XR50 and get XR55

Relax. It has nothing to do with the speakers. If the receiver is shutting down, there's a problem with the receiver. These receivers are mass produced items. Some are going to be defective.
Why sell your receiver because someone else is having a problem? There have been problems reported with some of the XR55's. I not selling mine based on what a few people are experiencing. Just enjoy the music.

bikeman's made a great point. Some people have defective items. It doesn't mean yours is. At worse, see if it is a problem rather than going on a firesale that could've been avoided.
