Somewhat related and an old thread bump...

If anyone has Hulu and/or Disney+ and hasn't seen The Orville, or perhaps quit watching after the first few episodes, it's pretty darn first rate. McFarlane hired a lot of TNG writers apparently and Frakes as a consultant, and there's Norm McDonald as a blob. I kind of found some of the Moclan episodes drug at first but later on they actually got a lot better.

It's actually not even trying to be funny quite a lot of the time (especially later) and some amazing writing in later episodes. (The sound is basically the usual TNG sound effects). I like it a lot better than what I was seeing out of Discovery and Picard Season 2 IMHO, though I thought Picard Season 1 had some good parts.
