    Default My Setup with these settings - any advice?

    I just received my HSU STF-2 sub, set the Crossever to 90Hz and volume to the 12'oclock position and just ran the Audessy setup on my receiver. My configuration and results from the setup are:

    Denon AVR-2808CI Receiver

    Front - HTM-200 SE
    Center - CMT-340 SE
    Surround - HTM-200 SE
    Sub - HSU STF-2

    Crossover Freq
    Front = 90Hz : Small
    Center = 40Hz : Small
    Surround = 110Hz : Small
    Sub = didn't see a result

    Channel Level
    FL = +2.5db
    FR = +1.5db
    C = +2.0db
    Sub = -7.0db
    SL = +1.0db
    SR = +0.5db

    So far, I have read that I should set the sub to 80Hz, but does anyone have suggestions on the other settings based on the above results. Should I manually change any of them?

    If I am going to get the stink eye from the wife, at least I want the room to sound right.

    Thanks in advance!

    On the Hsu, set the crossover on the sub amp to "out" or off. Since you are using the crossover on the receiver, you do not use the crossover on the sub amp. Re-run Audessy.

    I would also turn down the volume on the sub amp a bit as well.

    From my experience, I would also move the rears down to 90Hz and the center up to at least 60Hz.

    Eric, don't forget that you got the 200SEs, not the original 200. I don't know how much different that might make in any recommendations, but you never know. Can't wait to come by and hear the new setup!

    I really don't take much stock in Audessy. Same speakers in the fronts as the surrounds but look at the crossovers 90hz and 110hz. I would set the crossover on all of those speakers and the 340SE to 80hz. I would also use a SPL meter and I agree with Curtis on your sub being to hot, you have a 9db swing between your front and your sub.

    Room size and sub placement make quite a bit of difference too. My setup instructions for my HSU VTF-2 MK 3 give recommended placements points etc. Mine is in a smaller room (14 X 14) and volume wise it is only about 25 % because otherwise it is too overpowering a blend with the other speakers. Some people seem to like what the auto setups do to balance their systems but in my experience I prefer to trust what I hear with my own ears. Listen to what you like most, and tweak " hear " and there.
