Wow...you got the 170's pretty quick!

Ascend I believe recommends a stand height of 28" to 31" for the CBM-170. The manual for the speakers says having the tweeter at ear level is the best.

Yep, actually got 2 170's and a 340 center channel through ascend, free ship!! Anyways, theres some guy selling Sound Organisation Z522 stands on audiogon. Can you check it out for me and see if its compatible with the 170's? I dont know the link but here is the address..... http://cgi.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cl.p...ack&1077911577

They only seem to be 24" high though. Any problems with that? Thanks in advance Curtis.

Actually, they or only 22 inches high. Hmm, maybe I should look elsewhere. What do you think? Any recommendations on some good looking stands?

    gimmin74,

Congratulations on your new speakers! I have my CBM-170s on 30" Sanus NF-30Bs, and have been pleased by the stability and aesthetics of the stands, though I'm sure more solid, fillable ones are available. Check Racks and Stands to get an idea of what is out there:

One good source I've found for reasonably priced sand-fillable metal stands is from a company called Premier, which as I understand it, is a owned by Paradigm, the speaker company. You should be able to find them at any official Paradigm dealer:

I think under 28" is definitely too low as I found a noticeable improvement in sound when I went from a 24" stand to a 30" one, and my couch actually seats a little lower than most modern ones.

Thanks ev-z. I went with the wood technology mu-30. Seemed ok for the price and it is sand fillable and has cable management. Thanks for the links.
