Here’s some nice sound quality selections I was enjoying last night.
Louis Armstrong - Satchmo Plays King Oliver
Billy Holiday - Songs For Distingue Lovers
Art Pepper Meets The Rhythm Section
The Satchmo album is an “MS Recording”.

And then I found this rare footage of the recording.

While I am not a believer in MQA, to have so much CD quality music at your fingertips is awesome.
Because of this deal, I have been using both Tidal and Qobuz via Roon. When the deal goes away, I will probably just stick with Qobuz.
I have been working from home since March 27th. The best things about it have been no commute, and being able to listen to my system throughout the day, and it is sounding awesome. I just have to pause it a lot because of conference calls.

Anyone else find the drummer's playing in that recording interesting? Anyway, the session in the video is studio mic'd. How did that special MS recording method apply? Maybe they used both?

I love the way Danny's drums sound on my system in this recording. It really picks up about 2 minutes in and I can almost picture his kit right in my room.

Here's a pretty new one, put out by Vic Firth drumsticks of Danny playing live. He is schooled in music and takes a lot of inspiration from some famous jazz drummers like Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich. He's my personal favorite drummer alive, and might be the best EVER...

He's just as comfortable playing on a small kit with a jazz trio as he is with a massive one in a prog metal band! Try to pick out the time signature this is played in. Then try to pick out the different polyrhythms he's playing on each limb. They call him "the octopus" because he plays like each limb has its own independent brain, playing multiple time signatures at once. Incredible.

This group popped up on Pandora a few weeks ago. Not my typical listen as it is instrumental piano, cello type stuff but I like it.
Balmorhea- Rivers Arms
The song The Winter is the one that got me listening to them.
Kind of nice to have going in the background while working from home. Now that kids are in school it gets pretty quiet.

Checking them out now on Spotify while I work.. Great find! - so relaxing. Every track is so different, adding this to my favorites.

Recently discovered Chantal Chamberland
Temptation and Freya Ridings Albums. Great music I would recommend them.
Re: Ascend Acoustics Official Music Recommendation Thread
I have been listening to a ton of music from a relatively unknown instrumental band named Balmorhea. It is extremely relaxing, mellow - terrific music to listen to while working or just kicking back and relaxing...
Check them out...
