Russian Circles-Guidance
The post-rock three piece released a new album last month. This is in my heavy rotation. Recommend if you like instrumental rock with a metal edge.
Nice bass for some subwoofer testing. You can listen to the whole album on Youtube:

Anytime I can watch Vinnie at work I'm happy. One of my top 3 drummers ever.
Really enjoying The Pineapple Thief's Your Wilderness...I think anyone that likes Steven Wilson would enjoy this. Now I need to find it in 5.1......

BLOWN AWAY
Very hard for me to pick a favorite album of theirs. This one on the short list for sure though.
Every now and then you come across recordings that leave you slack-jawed and in awe. Did I actually experience that? Well I have two recommendations that are sure to please. Perhaps they've already been mentioned, but these recordings are well worth bringing up again. Reference Recordings Rachmaninoff Symphonic Dances and Copland Fanfare for the Common Man both conducted by Eiji Oue. The breadth and depth and dynamics are breathtaking and the symphony is in your room. The dynamics will test your system as the crescendos literally vibrate through the foundation, even in a two-way 2.0 system. The laws of physics seem not to apply. Seems like hype, but I don't contribute to blogs often and only if I have a question or am impressed. I am impressed. Engineered by the master Prof. Johnson. Enjoy.
"Lost in the Dream" by The War on Drugs.
My favorite album of last 15 years, maybe ever!!!!
Dude they're on tour! going to go see them in central park nyc 9/22
Dude going to see them in LA, Berkeley, Seattle, and Portland!

Tron Legacy soundtrack, Daft Punk. Amazing mix of styles.
In honor of the 50th anniversary, Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Seven months after it was released in 1967, I was in basic training and I wrote to my girlfriend that I missed her and I also missed listening to music. In her next letter to me she included the back cover of the Sgt Pepper's album, which contained the lyrics to the album's songs. 50 years later I still have the album (minus the back cover) and I still have her...we've been married 46 years and she still indulges me with my music hobby.
