Re: Ascend Owners Photo Gallery
Just got the majority of my 3.1 put together. The Rythmik F18 should be here later this week to put on the finishing touches.
This set up sounds amazing. The clarity and detail is the best, I myself, have ever experienced. A very natural and real sound that seems to just fill the air without drawing attention to the speakers whatsoever. I’m thinking the F18 should really provide some oomph to the low end.
These Natural cabinets are stunning! I highly recommend them if you are on the fence.

Been way too long without a pic posted in here and I just received my Sierra-2 last week so...

I am absolutely in love with these speakers. I find myself intending on listening to something for only a couple of songs and end up playing music for hours. I'm having the hardest time imagining something can sound better than this.

Re: Ascend Owners Photo Gallery
Very nice! I’ve never seen white on them before. Awesome speakers no dought

Re: Ascend Owners Photo Gallery
Definitely loving the white finish!

Thanks for posting and we are very happy that you are enjoying the speakers. Our domestic cabinet maker has really got this satin white bamboo finish down and we are going to consider making it a standard finish.

Very nice! 2 questions. What are the 170’s doing in those spots? How is that Pink Floyd Pulse box set? I want it bad but haven’t picked it up yet.

Gorgeous.
If you made an L22 in this finish with aluminum drivers I would seriously consider buying one, even though I just bought an L22.

A.m.a.z.i.n.g.....set up. May I know if the tv stand is custom? If not, where did you buy it from?

Hello and thanks for the compliment! I had the console custom made locally. Turned out great and really goes well with the natural bamboo.

Re: Ascend Owners Photo Gallery
I just received last evening my new (second hand) Sierra Raal Towers and Horizon in satin espresso. Everything looks fantastic but the most impressive piece is definitely the Horizon. Everyone says what a beast it is but you really have to see it in person to appreciate it!
I've been an OG Sierra 1 owner since 2010 in a 5.1 configuration with a Rythmik F12 and love their sound so when I moved to a town house I put that setup in the living room. After consulting with David the Towers and Horizon were a natural choice for the basement/home theater I'm putting together. I also managed to find the FV15HP second hand so I was able to put the main portion of the audio setup together for what I think is a bargain. My plan is to get a pair of HTM200SEs for surround duties. Still a ways to go on the setup overall, my old 50 inch Panasonic plasma is handling the display duties for now. Here's what it looks like now:

Re: Ascend Owners Photo Gallery
Looking good! That center is quite the beast.
I have a 58" Panny plasma doing a nice job in my bedroom, looks identical to yours.
Is the blue painter's tape to mark your future screen size/location?
-
Re: Ascend Owners Photo Gallery
The TV is a TCP50G20, also circa 2010. No complaints about it other than I wish I had bought another plasma a few years ago before they stopped being produced!
Yes, the tape is a projector screen outline, trying to get a feel for size and placement. The inner square is 100" and outer is 110". I need to put up a 120" outline and then make a decision, it'll definitely be either 110 or 120.

But, but, but. Then the speakers will have to move!

Haha true. They won't mind though, they're probably too close together as they are with the listening position about 13 feet away and only about 7 feet between the towers.
-
Re: Ascend Owners Photo Gallery
Then watch out for the side walls. You'll definitely need some sound treatments there.

Yeah it's unfortunate that they'll have to be moved towards the corners but it's a trade off between pure music listening and home theater. I was planning to build some absorption panels for the left wall and possibly the ceiling to treat first reflections. Unfortunately the right wall is more difficult with a fireplace sandwiched between two sets of sliding glass doors. The doors have curtains but it's obviously not ideal.
Anything else I should consider as a first step for treatments?

The new Ascend/Rhythmik front stage in my music/theater room in the basement.
F12 subs in the corners, RAAL Sierra Towers and RAAL Horizon for LCR.
These are replacing a Vandersteen system that I've had for ~15 years. I plan on adding 4 Lunas for surround/back duties sometime later this year...

Awesome setup! What did you use to black out the screen wall?

Thanks!
The front wall, and two feet of the ceiling and side walls are covered in 2'X2' dark grey acoustic foam panels. I think I got them from Audio Advisor over 20 years ago.
They help cut down on high frequency sound reflections, and they also help the screen contrast ratio and perceived black levels by absorbing reflected light...

I started this thread 12yrs ago! Been off the radar, as life happened (aka bills, kids, etc). Have the same main speakers (340 LCR + 200 surrounds + VTF3). Still love the speakers, have only had to replace the Hsu's amp few years back. Recently added the Sony SS-CSE Atmos speakers on top of the 340s, after finally upgrading to a 65" Sony OLED and Yamaha 7850 receiver. Not an ideal Atmos setup, but works for my limited budget, and as a bonus the finish matches the 340s perfectly.

I've got my setup finalized for the near future at least after picking up a pair of Lunas on the used market to fill out the surrounds for a 5.1 system.

I guess you can't tell from the picture but the Horizon is angled up 13 degrees, I'm using this stand: VTI RFC RF Series Center Channel Speaker Stand https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0007P85JG..._ahbsDb16WNZ32
I'm loving this setup, thanks for all your work developing these speakers so that people like me can enjoy them!
