I have owned both the Sierra-1 Nrt and the Tower NrT. The Towers do better at low volume levels than the Sierra-1's probably due to the more detailed midrange. That is impressive because when I had the Sierra-1's I thought they sounded better at low volumes than most other speakers I had auditioned.
Moderate listening levels will not be a problem at all with the towers. They are excellent at filling a room with detail, without sounding over-bearing in any portion of the musical spectrum. I listened to some of the competition before I bought Ascend. I believe that many of the competition were designed to sound good mostly when turned up quite a bit.
With that said, the Towers also will also perform impressively at higher volume levels as. They are very good at keeping their balance, and I think the deep, tight bass is fantastic!
Bottom line, when listening to the Towers, I don't really get the constant urge to "turn them up just a little more" like I have with other speakers.

The listening distance is 7 ft on the first video and 15 feet on the second. Not sure what your listening distance is.
Not sure this is of any use, but at least I tried!

Matt, Of course it helps. Thank you for the effort, I don't know that many people would have gone through the trouble. I can see what you mean, they sound very nice at lower volumes, but it just gets better as they go louder.
Anybody else care to chime in? Any jazz listeners care to comment?, as this will be 90% of my listening at background/ low levels and movies 10%. Thanks in advance, you guys are great. Will

I am a Jazz listener and almost always have some type of music going on in the background at home. I have towers with Nrt and I think they sound awesome at every level! Make no mistake these speakers are top notch and worth every penny!

P.S. I noticed you've got the tweeters lined up nicely for a seamless sound stage. Good work!
Hey Buddy,
Glad you liked the videos, makes going to all the hassle worth the effort! You are definitely an AV connoisseur to have picked up on the tweeters being all in line. That is not without some effort to accomplish!! So the wooden entertainment center was custom made by my dad out of white oak hardwood so that the tweeter of the center would line up with the tweeter location of the towers. It was also made a custom length to fit the towers on either side of the piece as well. The center of the shelves do not have any bracing so the center sagged a little making the tweeter less than ear level and aimed somewhat downward, so what I did was shim them up with sound isolation pads from amazon and voila.
I got them for as much music listening as home theater and man, when I get them in a perfect equilateral triangle to my ears they really start to sing!

No problemo. Thanks for appreciating the effort because it actually took multiple tries 2/2 camera positioning then I was having syncing issues as well with the camera and the cord. Like another response stated, I don't feel the urge to jack up the volume at all with these speakers. I really don't think you would be disappointed with them.
Re: The Tower Discussion Thread!
I'd be curious to hear from anyone that has a chance to listen to the new Chinese made Sonus Faber Venere 2.5 speakers. At $2,500 they are more expensive than the Sierra Towers, but in the ballpark. It appears they will be selling them at Magnolia (Best Buy).
Here's some info (they are good looking):

They would be fun to hear. The one I would really like to compare to the Sierra Tower is the 3.0, as that is the model with the dedicated midrange driver.
Re: The Tower Discussion Thread!
Hi guy's without going into too much detail...I think the mid range in one of my Towers is amuck there is a slight hiss or staticky sound coming from it...:(. What would be my best course of action at this time?
Thanks, Bill...

Sorry to hear this :( Best course of action is always to simply give us a call...
Re: The Tower Discussion Thread!
Call Ascend right away and talk to them about the issue. They are the best source of info and probably will be eager to get you on the right track.
