Saying hi from Northern California
Just joined this community after being directed towards the Ascend speaker site by someone on the AVS forum since I am getting started on building a home theater. I will be posting here to get some ideas on setting up my system. I think I will be leaning towards a 5.2 setup and using Ascend speakers for LCR and 2 surrounds withe a couple of Rythmik subs. Starting to read various threads on this community forum

Welcome to the forum.
What are your room dimensions? How far do you plan on sitting from the TV/screen? Will this be mostly TV/Movie watching, or will you be listening to music too...and what percentage?
Re: Saying hi from Northern California
My room is actually a great room that is 45’x 15’ My setup now is 65” oled with a Sonos arc, subs x 2, era 100 surrounds x 2. The HT is basically 20’ x 15’. It all connects to a small area for dining and connects to the kitchen. All without separating walls. I am planning on a center speaker and 2 bookshelf speakers in front and 2 subs. I will plan on 2 rear surrounds if I feel I need them later. Don’t plan on any height speakers. I am pretty well decided on a Denon x4800h for my AV receiver. I will use my system for movie and tv watching about 90% and music 10% with SirusXM. Movies are strictly being streamed. No Blu-ray player.

Big room! If Towers are a no go, I’d probably go with the LX for LR, Horizon with Titan tweeter for center (as you are almost all movies) or a 3rd LX for center. Or maybe 3 Horizons across the front (smaller than a Tower but definitely bigger than a bookshelf). HTM200s or Lunas for surrounds.
Re: Saying hi from Northern California
I would also throw in the CMT-340SE into the mix for the front three.
I would also put surrounds in the mix.
Re: Saying hi from Northern California
Those would work also but not sure if they are considered bookshelf.
Re: Saying hi from Northern California
I don’t know if this makes any difference but my system is set up with the tv on one side with the couch 10’ feet away and the wall behind the couch 2’ behind. Just wanted to indicate that my HT isn’t set up parallel to the 45’ axis so the speakers will be shooting sound at a couch and wall 14’ away

If I am picturing it my head correctly, it shouldn't be a problem.
Re: Saying hi from Northern California
If you ever make it to SoCal, you should make an appointment with Ascend to hear some speakers.
There are owners in NorCal as well that may be willing to have you over for a listen.
IMO, when purchasing and setting up a system for the first time, listening to other setups is a great education.
