Hi all,

Can the CBM-170SE speakers be used as Atmos speakers if mounted on the ceiling facing down(ish)?

Also what ceiling mounts are recommended?

Thanks

I'd go with the HTM-200 SE since it is sealed and has extremely wide dispersion. The rear port on the CBM is going to cause trouble with ceiling mounting. I'd use the omni mount on the Ascend store page.

EDIT: I previously linked some wall mounts on Amazon, but after looking at them, they are only rated up to 10 pounds, and the HTM-200 SE is about 10 pounds, so I'd definitely go with the omni mount, as it is much sturdier, although a bit pricey, it would be worth the money knowing your speaker is secure.

Yes, absolutely -- but like sludge mentioned, I would actually go with our 200's over the 170's for this purpose :)

Thanks Dave! Got my HTM-200 SE a few days ago and I absolutely love them! It is incredible how great they sound for the money. They are so much better than the Klipsch R-15M speakers they replaced that I can't even listen to them anymore, they'll likely get donated now. Makes me very excited to order my Sierra Sats, can't even fathom how great they're going to sound in surround duty with my towers.

Go with the HTM-200s. I posted some info on how to flush mount them with massive overkill.

That looks phenomenal!

Would you mind posting a few more pics of the room in general including the audio rack, sides etc..? Looks amazing!

These pictures don't have the ceiling speakers or Marantz yet, but check out the link in my signature. That has a lot more pics.

Wow, what a great way to use the 200's. If I go Atmos in the future, that method would work in my space.

The 200 is versatile little speaker. I recently mounted mine to the ceiling in my 7.2 configuration and they are perfect.

^^^^^^^^ Very nice Mr.Lawrence! Looks nice and clean.

I'm working on converting my grills to use magnets and I'll post some pics if it turns out well.
