I've recently gotten interested in electronics but I have no one nearby thats experienced with it to help me. I was just wondering what safety measures should I pay attention to?

Welcome to the club! I have an electronics engineering job, but it has always been a passion for me. Your statement is quite broad, electronics has many forms. Assuming you meant building or repairing electronic equipment, this is a good, short essential list:
