Anyone heard this combination? On paper they look like a good match.

I would love to try a Hypex based amp.

I have done IcePower, but now back to my trusty ATI.

I can't say there was anything I didn't like.

I wanted to simplify my system, and just use one amp rather than the IcePOWER based amp for the mains, and then the multichannel amp for the center and surrounds, so I decided just to use the 5-channel ATI. The IcePower amp is just sitting in the stand...not sure what I am going to do with it.

After the switch, I sometimes think the sound is a bit more forward and highs a bit more extended...but I don't know without a proper A/B test.

Components laying around? Sounds like you have an excuse to put together a nice bedroom system:cool:


My current debate is passive or active preamp. Looking at something like a goldpoint attenuated passive preamp. The ncores have an input impedance slightly over 100k ohm and the DAC I'm looking at has an under 100 ohm output impedance so it should work.
