Used Market value for CMT-340 5.0

Just joined the forum as a I have an opportunity to pick up some Ascend speakers.I want to confirm the price is right before I jump in. I'm being offered 2 CMT-340's along with the center & 2 170's for surrounds for 800. No stands included. Just curious it people here think that's a good price to this set. The seller is not budging on the price and they are supposed to be in good condition. Thanks in advance for the replies.

I purchased L/C/R 340's with (2) 170's along with matching stands for the L & R filled with sand, plus 2 Bello stands for the 170's for 700. He was asking 800 but when I went to look at them I offered 700 and he took it. All speakers and stands are in great shape.

Does he have the stands for the front L & R? If so maybe offer him the 800 but include the stands.

Thanks for the reply. I offered him 700 originally but he's firm at 800. No stands included for the front LR or for the 170 surrounds. I think I'll probably pass on them for this price. Doesn't seem like a very good deal. I'm still interested in the 340's so maybe I'll just buy the pair new to hear them in my environment. I keep hearing that this speaker is neutral, might be a big adjustment coming from forward sounding speakers. What do you think about them?

The speakers are about 2 years old and they're the SE model. I will probably pass as stated before.

Really? I got close to 1100 when I had them in the cart without the stands. How do I get that price?

Yeah, it's $1166 with shipping for those 5 speakers. I think Curtis missed the center channel. :)

Yup...I missed the center channel.

At $800, I think it is a good deal, especially since the warranty transfers.

I'd take that deal in an instant providing the speakers are mint. That's a pretty nice savings. As long as you are able to hear them in person and everything checks out, you shouldn't worry about buying used.

I sold both my original 340s and the 340 SEs for around $250 each pair, and that was a few years ago. So I don't think it is a good deal either.
