The YouTube Sierra Speaker Challange.
Sierra owners - Why Not Show off your speakers on Youtube!
Now i understand youtube wont sound like the body and soul of the speaker - but just give an impression, among other things - but i have heard many fine speaker recordings from youtube that honestly do bode well towards the speaker.
This will help give these ID speakers more exposure, let people like me who are researching this speaker, and there are ALOT of people like me to be better decided, and BEST OF ALL Show off your systems. I'm sure owners would love to see what other owners have done! Pehaps amp speaker pairings?
Remember Youtube rules - if you are going to play a song give credit to the artist by simply commenting artist and song. Commenting your system specs would be cool to!

It won't even give any kind of real perception of what the speaker sounds like.

Think about it....the sound will be coming from your PC speakers, and the source is whatever microphone/recording system was used.

Better to show off some hi-res pictures. :)

Yes This is true - But we can extrapolate. Lets Meet half way - Some HD recordings of them playing something the owner enjoys.

I will go first - I do not own any ascend speakers yet - I have my purchase money tucked away - just waiting on completing my upper level renovation. But, I did find this on youtube.

Alright I'll go again. This one was taken by Archea at the Wisconson GTG.
As noted before the Camera quality wil bever mimick the speaker quality.
It the garbage in garbage out theory - This video wasnt recorded with a recording studio and perhaps is not playing with A+ equiptment so, well, this is basic stuff so i dont think i gotta go on.

I think you answered your own question. ;) Quite simply, no one else has stepped up to the plate because it's "garbage in, garbage out."

As curtis already mentioned, both the source and playback device will alter the sound quality of the speaker demo. It's kind of like visiting an art gallery and snapping a digital picture of a large, high-quality painting to send to a friend. However, the digital camera is an old 1.0 megapixel design and your friend views the image on his ten year old 15" CRT. :p

It's just not a good way to compare or evaluate speakers. For what it's worth, I'm familiar with the setup you posted in the first link. That's actually nonagon's system (he's a member here) and he has posted other images as well. I own that album he demoed. Trust me, the video does not do Badi Assad or the Sierras true justice, and that's listening through my own pair of Sierras. :)

In the second link, it seems the recording microphone is slightly better, so "Rubina" comes through better, but it is still sub-par compared to the original recording (which I also have).

I'm not chiding you, I'm just echoing what curtis said in a bit more detail. Hopefully it makes sense.

If you're seriously considering a purchase of the Sierra-1 loudspeakers, do yourself a huge favor and see if you can get a live audition in your area. Your ears will thank you. :cool:

If anybody is in Calgary, Alberta Canada or near and wouldnt mind Letting me Audition their system it would be great. Havnt had very much luck finding anybody lately. kinda frustrated.

I will take a stab here, i'm thinking your Sierra's sound un-restricted and "live" with a dash of "airy". Sounds very nice i'm sure even heard thru pc speakers. I like your idea of youtube and showing off your gear, why woundn't we??? How do you like your Elite TV? If you could give me the one thing you love about it and the one thing you don't like what would it be for a potential buyer? I love my Elite VSX-30 BTW:D

i agree - Video is the new HD photo. like blue is the new red! When i get my speakers i will post my let me just say unique setup online for all to see. Does anybody else agree.
