My current setup is a Yamaha RX-1000 7.2 receiver (2 zone), 340's for front and center, 4 170's - 2 for surround and 2 for back - and a Rhythmik 12" ported subwoofer.

I'm considering buy a set of Sierra towers for the front speakers and move a pair of my current speakers (either 340's or 170's) to my bedroom and add a subwoofer in my bedroom.

So, if I get the Sierra's, should I move the front 340's as either surround or back and then move a pair of 170's to the bedroom or should I just move the 340 fronts to the bedroom?

BTW, did I mention my apartment is about 715 square feet? lol

Hi and welcome to the forums.

If it were me, I would prefer to keep the four 170s in surround side/back duty and move the 340s to the bedroom (assuming you have the space for them).

The 340 is the "better" speaker, so I would want to utilize its strengths in a 2-channel setup and keep the 170s for surrounds. Depending how much bass you want, you might not even need a subwoofer in the bedroom thereby saving you some cash. Personally, if I was using 340s in my bedroom, I would not need/want a sub.

My $0.02. ;)
