Connecting 340 and 170 in Series

Hello everyone.

I just bought a new pair of CMT-340 mains as an upgrade from the CBM-170. That leaves me with the 170s unused because I only have a stereo receiver.

My inquiry is this:
I am thinking about using the 170 together with the 340 in a series or parallel connection using my present stereo receiver.
Is this at all advisable?

If it is, what is the best way to do it?

I agree with curtis, definitely not recommended.


Other ideas:

- Do you have a Zone 2 pre-out on your receiver? If you do, you could pick up a small two-channel amplifier and use those 170s in another room.

- Upgrade the speakers in another system (if applicable).

- Hang on to the 170s for a future project (e.g. HT surround).

- Sell the 170s.
