The 340 center is too large to fit in the center compartment of my tv stand and I have no wall behind the tv to mount a center.

I'd love the 340 center, but it just won't work due to my setup...anyone have any recommendations?

What's the dimensions of your center compartment? What are you using as L/R?

If your center compartment has a back, I'd suggest you consider an HTM-200SE center. I regard the 200's as real sleepers. I'm using them as my back surrounds, with 340's up front and 170's as side surrounds. The 200's blend seamlessly. While I was building my home theater, I used the 200's to listen to music. They did a super job, they sound great and can play loud comfortably.

i'm using 340 for front..the compartment has a height of 8", and is low, i'd have to angle it up. It wouldn't fit.

Something like the orbs can go right in front of the TV, would that sound horrible?

Orbs will not work well.

I would try the HTM-200SE or fun a phantom center channel.

The 200 wouldn't fit either, if I only have 8", i wouldn't have room to angle it upwards.

Actually it would..perhaps with mopads under it to angle it up.

It would go in the "A" compartment

HTM-200 SE and even our CMT-340 SE will work well in that compartment.

Assuming your ear height when you are seated in your couch is about 38" (average), placing the CMT-340 SE in the "A" compartment will put the tweeter at about 13.5" high. Assuming you are about 10 feet back from the center speaker, the vertical listening angle will only be 11 degrees off -- and considering the wide vertical spread of a horizontally positioned 340 SE center, this is perfectly fine :)

If you are 8 feet or closer to the center speaker than a slight upward angle for the center speaker would be recommended.

With the HTM-200 SE center, there is no reason to angle it upwards unless you are closer than 6 feet.

Hope this helps!

That does help. So you're saying that even if the speaker is a bit lower than ear level we wouldn't notice much of a difference? I'm not home so I can't measure ear level right now.

That is correct :)

I'm confused. Your attachment shows the "A" compartment as the Top Open Compartment, which according to the attachment is 8" high. Do you mean the "B", or component compartment?

Is there any way you can place a shelf directly above the TV? Do you already have a 340 for the center?
