I was looking thru a copy of Home Theater magazine which I love to get every month and saw Audioengine advertisement showing a pair of "Soild Carbonized Bamboo" model A5N pair of bookshelfs for $449. Wow!!! That's cheap I thought for a solid bamboo enclosure.
Comments or deeper explanation maybe showing the difference in Bamboo that they are offering vs. the Sierra-1's?

The bamboo is only part of the equation. What they use may be similar to the the Sierra, but I see no explanation as to what they actually use or how it is constructed.
Their passive non-bamboo speaker is $249/pr.

Do a search in the forum. Something like this came up a few months ago.

Thanks KMA, did it and came up with a post about their wireless adapter.
I do search before asking :D

Sorry. Wasn't trying to be rude. The reason I mentioned it was that someone asked the same question and I believe Dave F responded. It might have been on AVS Forum.

I really don't know anything about this speaker -- what type of bamboo is used or how thick it is. There are many different thicknesses available -- we use 3/4".
The Sierra-1 has slightly over twice the surface area of the A5 (uses at least twice the amount of bamboo.) In addition, the A5 (bamboo) weighs only 9 pounds (the unit without the amp) -- our HTM-200 SE weighs more. The model with the amp built in (transformer and everything) still comes in at significantly less weight than our Sierra-1.
I suspect they are using 1/4" thick bamboo....
