Do Sierra's accentuate vocals -- a lot?

I have been listening to a lot of music lately and it seems that on at least 75% of my music the vocals are so pronounced that the rest of the music is lost.

Is that a trademark of the Sierra's?

The Sierra's, along with all of Ascends' speakers, are tuned for neutrality, and therefore do not "Focus" on one particular quality over another. You will get detailed, clear vocals, but not exaggerated. The Sierras excel at resolving details without being harsh. They are smooth and extended, both top end and bottom end. the mids are probably considered laid back and not in your face.

The Sierra's will faithfully reproduce the sound in the recording. Vocals come through with remarkable presence. But no speaker can fix a poorly mixed recording where the vocals and instruments are out of balance.

Definitely not a trademark of the Sierra's... Quick question, are you running your speakers with any type of auto-EQ system like Audyssey? If so, turn it off and then have a listen....

For my music listening, I set it to Pure Audio (Onkyo 705 receiver).

Maybe I have just psyched myself into believing that I am being overwhelming with vocals.

What speakers were you using before you got the Sierras.

Maybe your previous speakers had a depressed midrange.

male or female vocals? Any example of tracks which would highlight this?

It's the exact opposite for me--the speaker sounds laid-back, a bit recessed sometimes.

On some of my more processed music sources, voices can be loud, but they have been artificially inflated. On my less normalized music, I don't hear any accentuation across the range.

It was female vocals.

Ok, I went back and selected some CDs I had not been listening to and it must have been the my current selection that got me started on this.

Rikie Lee Jones, Lucinda Williams, and Mary-Chapin Carpenter all sounded fine, quite fine actually.
