I'm looking for a subwoofer with a smallish footprint (12-14in square) that will integrate well with Sierra-1's (driven by Pioneer SC-07). Downward firing would be a plus. Listen to both music and HT. Any recommendations welcome. I realize this amount of floor space is a major handicap for a sub but won't have the space for a Rythmik until I move.

TIA,
Barry

I'm using a Martin Logan Dynamo (the smallest one) with Sierra-1's. It's an excellent match.

never heard the Dynamo, but it might not fit at 14.69" × 13" × 15.27".

14in square is pretty tight for a sub.

that's the bigger dynamo. There is a smaller one that is 12" square. And sealed, not ported.

Frankly, they just took the reputation of the original 12" model and applied it to a series of 'dynamo' models. I like the original smaller one best.

Sorry, I think I was looking at the least expensive, and equated that to being smaller....bad assumption! :o

Thanks for the thumbs up on the Dynamo - the Dynamo 700 looks quite interesting; definitely in the ballpark size-wise and everything I've managed to read about it seems quite positive.

Also look at the Emotiva Ultra-10 (12.5" cube, $299 shipped) and the soon to be released SVS SB-10NSD (12" cube, $399 pre-order price).

A more expensive option is the Velodyne Minivee-10/Chrysalis Photon-10/Outlaw ECS-10... all the same sub as far as I can tell. I think the best deal you'll find on one of these is the Chrysalis Photon-10 for $700 shipped (brand new) from Audioholics.

What's your budget? How long are you willing to wait?

SVS makes some great subs. This one is not out yet and obviously doesn't have any reviews floating around, but it is going to be a 14 inch cube. Looks pretty and I bet it will pack quite a punch.

Thanks for the additional suggestions. Busy doing more research. The REL sure looks interesting - I haven't see any other subwoofer with independent gain adjustments for speaker/line inputs - that would sure work well for my mixed music/HT use through the SC-07.

Thanks,
Barry
