From within the Ascend line up of speakers, what would you all recommend that would match up best with my Denon AVR-2807? (110 watts per channel)

Would this receiver underpower the Sierra-1's?

I've been leaning towards the 340's for the L/C/R with some 170's or even 200's for the rears, but I'm open to other suggestions.

As far as the difference between the 340's and 170's go, how are they different, other than how loud they can get?

Receiver shouldn't limit you on which Ascend speaker to buy. I think there are posts here talking about tube amps in the 50-60Wpc range being adequate to drive the Sierra's which are the least efficient Ascend has. I've read reviews of Denons similar to yours which found their wattage to be accurately rated.

I have the Denon 988 which is a big-box store version of 2808 but with just 2 zones. It's very similar to your reciever, maybe slightly lower wattage, but about the same. It can drive the speaker to deafening volumes in a reasonably big space.

I ran the Sierra's and the 340's with the 2807. Both ran well. I upgraded to a 500 wpc D-Sonic amp. I

Unless you have a huge room, the Sierras are clearly better--I have owned both, and think each represents an outstanding value. I use the 200's for rear duty in my 5.1 set-up.
