Well I just got my new 170's for L/R mains and a 340 center and hooked them up yesterday for my 5.1 system. I assume that I can connect my 340 by plugging into either the tweeter input or the subwoofer input. Let me know if I'm wrong. I purchased my speakers from B stock and I'll be honest I can't see what relegated them to B stock. They are in excellent shape. I'm going to have to calibrate my system and fine tune it now. I have to say this was a very good purchase.

input? Input means that you're sending something to the amp! (like cable signal, cd player, etc...)

Check out this picture: http://www.bestpriceaudiovideo.com/img/items/Yamaha-HTR-6130-back.jpg

Here, you'd plug the speakers where it says 'speakers' (on the right side). Surround/center/fronts, you'd put the 170s where it says front A, 340 where it says center. Subwoofer output would make no sens as it only sends bass, so the 340 would only play bass... But actually the sub out probably isn't even amplified (of that amp at least) so no sound would come out of speaker... "Tweeter input", I have no idea what that could be...

You should definitely read the manual of your receiver... Is it a Home Theater in a box where you're just switching the speakers? Anyhow, you're looking for speaker outputs...

Oooooh you probably mean the connectors on the speakers... Then you should read the manual of your speakers ;) http://www.ascendacoustics.com/pages/support/Web_Owners_Manual.pdf When jumpered, it doesn't really matter, I just use woofer since its more practical physically to put the wires in the connector...

Thanks for the quick response. I have my 340 hooked up the same as you.

The ascends are freaking fantastic. You have to realize I'm replacing some polk satellite speakers that I had mounted on the ceiling so this is a night day experience. Heck my polk center was just a tweeter and midrange. My sons and I were watching the bluray "The Kingdom" and the opening sequence in the civilian compound was wild. My sons and I really enjoy the speakers. We almost never listen to music on the HT setup but I bet music sounds good on the 170's.

If you're anything like the rest of us, after the Ascends arrive, the music gets discovered again. Enjoy!

I really didn't know where to ask this question so I just found this newer posting and decided to try. I would like to know who wrote the discription of the Ultralink MX-2 Speaker Cable in the Ascend website. I was hoping to get an anwser from David F. Thanks.

depending on how new the speakers are, they will really fill out with some use. I also have the 170's with 340 center setup, sounds fantastic in my opinion! do you have a sub too?

Yes I have a 14 year old powered 8" polk sub. I plan to buy a SVS 10" sub but that will be in the future. The Polk sounds good but I'm sure the SVS will be alot better.
