Plasma/LCD: Is Magnetic Shielding Necessary?

Is magnetic shielding necessary for today's Plasma and LCD TV's? I've seen the effect of magnetic fields on the old CRT sets, and it can create permanent damage. I don't want to take any chances with my flat panel.
