For the Ascend history buffs...can anyone provide a timeline of Ascend Acoustics and when each product was released? How long was it between the release of the 170 and the 340?

My best guess for a Sierra-2 (if there will be such a beast) is an MTM version (as the 340 is to the 170). Just trying to get an idea of how long it might take to develop the next version of a line.

I can't even begin to tell you how interested I'd be in an MTM version of the Sierra... Or for that matter, a Sierra with a larger woofer...

Here is something to think about with caution. I am running stacked 170SEs hooked up in parallel one atop the other tweeter to tweeter on 24" stands, with a subwoofer. They sound great, a nice wall of sound. Caution is a must the drop in impedance could make your amp very unstable. Your amp should be able to handle safely a 2 ohm load. This effectively doubles your output. I should add I am running a single 2 channel stereo set-up

Here is a link to a brief discussion on the 340s

The woofer in the Sierra-1 seems to be a very competent long throw woofer. I would guess two of them in a larger cabinet would be a pretty potent combination.

The classic CBM-170 and HTM-200 were released in Feb 2000... (seems like a lifetime ago)

CMT-340 classic center in April 2003

CMT-340 classic mains in August 2003

SE versions of the 170 and 340 were released in Jan 2006

...the Sierra-1 was released in Jun 2007

Thanks for the info Dave...it would be nice to have that on the website somewhere (the About us pages?) now that the Ascend line has grown.

I can't wait to find out just how competent that little woofer really is! It looks like I'll find out next Monday as that's the scheduled delivery date of my Sierra-1's (mains & center). :D It sucks I won't have them for the weekend... :(
