Hey guys,

This may be already posted somewhere. Are there any plans for a Sierra floorstander? If a thread exists already, I apologize!

Thanks!

Nothing has been announced, but I would never count out extensions to the line. It is called the Sierra-"1" after all... :p

Ooof. An MTM Sierra (Sierra-2??) would be awesome. :D That's a lot of bamboo though.

The whole concept of the Sierra crossover is opposite of MTM. The OPPIX is designed to blend 2 drivers and create a point-source sound.

The only advantage to a tower would be increased dynamics.

Use the same configuration in a floorstander cabinet and get that extra bottom end extension.

The very first thing that came to my mind when I saw the name Sierra 1 was "Awsome, when can I order the Sierra 2?" :D

As good as the Sierra 1 sounds I can't step down to something that is less efficient than my 340's. The 340's already can't keep up with the dynamics of my subs. Not a knock on the Ascends, my DIY subs are just a tad on the ridiculous side of things. ;)

Of course, they'll probably ship my Sierra 2's the day before the Sierra 3 get announced.

You guys do realize that this thread is going to cause a flood of e-mails to Ascend asking when the Sierra 2 is coming out don't you? :o

IF your subs are anything like mine ( I have just one VTF-2), or stronger, I couldn't imagine any speaker keeping up with them. I have a medium sized room, and to have them balanced with my speakers, the volume control on the sub is maybe at 20% of max. But so what? I've never heard my 340s clip, but I have turned my AVR140 up to a point where I had no doubt my ears were being damaged just due to the sheer decibel level.

Here I try to have a serious discussion and you go and do that. ;)

Anyway, I was sort of asking a question in a round-about way. I was very surprised that I could not hardly turn my VTF-2 much without overpowering my other speakers. I can only assume people generally buy bigger subs to gain the lower frequencies, not for volume. My VTF-2 has TONS of volume to spare.

I think even after I upgrade the TV I am going to keep posting that picture. I get the same response almost every time :D

I get the same thing in person. "Dude, you need a bigger TV."

Get ready to open your wallet if Dave sells a set of these, cuz they will cost.

If Dave made a floorstander based of the Sierra it probably would be a bit pricey, $2,000 or more. For the performance they'd deliver, however, it would be a bargain. $2,000 really isn't all that expensive when you look at all the speakers out there.

Too funny!

But think it looks a little out of proportion to be a floorstander....I think it needs to be a bit taller. It needs a base too.

sweeet! I didnt' know anybody was working on those! What's the release date? :D Wait no I already own the 1s and I really don't need the floorstanders :p

But really, what is the appeal with the floorstanders? I have the 1s, run them without a sub, and really don't see how floorstanders would be better...

That's true, the Sierra-1 does sound fantastic. I think the only advantage of a floorstander would be that it could play louder with less distortion and fill a larger room more easily.

I would LOVE to see a TMM style Sierra tower.

On second thought, If Ascend came out with a tower, it should be priced no higher than $1500. It has to compete with the Salk Sound Towers.
