I am considering replacing my front 3 with sierras and leaving 170's for surrounds. How closely do they match timbraly. I do listen to some multi channel music and would prefer sierras all around but there is no way I could afford it. The 3 sierras would be a stretch on the budget. The primary reason I want to upgrade is for 2 channel capabilities. Is the sound close enough that it wont be a big deal?

That is the setup I have right and it is working fine.

Hi, please let me know if (because the different sensitivity) the Sierra L/C/R and 170SE as surround need an adjustment in the speaker calibration? Thanks.

Even if you were to use Sierras all the way around, you would need to calibrate the system.

Sierras across the front with 170s in the back, sounds great!! I sit closer to the surrounds than I do the Sierras, but still only had to raise the gain to the Sierras 2db.

I'll have 3 Sierra's across the front and 4 170's as surrounds. As I suspected.....I'm glad to hear that it sounds great. I'd love to hear other comments regarding this combination.
