I just spoke with the local JL Audio dealer about the Fathom subs. LOL!!

They were running the F113 after store hours to see what it could do. The store next to them(small shopping strip) gave them a $300 dollar damage bill the next morning for merchandise that was knocked off the wall between the stores. Holy crap!!

Ya, I heard a demo of the F113 and it was incredible. But I didn't want to go completely nuts, so I went with the F112. From what I've read it sounds almost identical with just a little less output.

I made a trip to audition the F113. Holy smokes!! What a piece of equipment that is. The room was filled with hi-dollar B&W and hi-dollar electronics. The sub kicked some serious butt!! Even at more than 3K they said they could not keep them in stock. Wish I had that kind of expendable cash. I would not be able to exploit the subs capability however, being in an apartment.

Even the smallest 10" unit was around 2K.

I'm getting good response down to about 16-17hz with the F112. Even though it doesn't go as low as my VTF-3 HO did (13-14hz) it has more dynamic ability and can play louder in the more common bass range. It also produces more detailed bass for music that makes the subwoofer disappear. What I mean by that, is that it makes the bass sound like it's coming from my main speakers instead of a subwoofer in the corner of the room.

The smaller size and piano black finish is a perfect match for my Sierras. :)

It's really heavy though! :p

I always felt the Hsus that I have had did well with bass detail. With the Sierras, something like the Fathom has me drooling. :)
