New HK receivers?

Any word on when/if Ascend will be carrying the x47 line of HK receivers? I need to recommend something to my brother that can fully switch (audio and video) and hopefully upconvert all sources over HDMI, and it sounds like the 247 and 347 will fit the bill.

The latest word from my HK distributor is that April 17th is the earliest date the new X47 line will become available.

AVR-347 -- 55wpc x 7, 70wpc stereo, 2 HDMI inputs, 1080p pass-through, 480i transcoding, 720p upconverting via HDMI.

I recently purchased an AVR 247 (from best buy actually). Received a hefty discount from the Magnolia guy. And I was shopping for that unit anyway, so I was happy with it.

The 247 has two HDMI inputs and one out... I do not believe it has pass through capability for 1080p. I think that is only available starting at the 347 (also about $200 more expensive than the 247).

I have ordered 247 through EPP. IT does have 1080p pass through. 347 has just one more feature than 247. It has the second room capability.

Next question is..... how good is the upconversion, and will it be better than my off the rack Sony 5 disc, with their "cinema conversion" or some such name.... hey ya gotta start somewhere! lol

It upconverts 480i/p to 720p. It's a passthru for 1080i/p. They use DCDi Foroudja technology which was highly regarded some time back, but it should be better than off the rack Sony. I'm using Oppo 981 for upconversion, so I'll be using the 1080p pass through. I think they have packed lot of features for the price.
