Has anyone heard a 170 (L,R) 340 (C), and 200 (rears), or a similar Ascend system, combined with the Outlaw Audio 1070 A/V receiver? Is it really worth the extra few hundred dollars over say, an H/K 245?

I have classic 170's L/R and had been using them with the 1050, until it started having audio dropouts. It was a very good unit with much more power than it's rating suggests. I currently have a Denon rated at a higher power output, but does not sound as dynamic as the Outlaw did.

Go to the Outlaw's forum and look up the 1070 thread.

I had an Outlaw 1070 with my 340 fronts and 170 surrounds. It was a great sounding combo - very punchy and dynamic and sounded more powerful than the 100-110 watt per channel receivers I've owned.

I returned it because of the "no-audio" issues that occasionally plague the 1070 and 970 models. They have recently released another firmware update to correct that problem...but I don't know if it has been fully resolved.

Hey Chas,

I remember your posts on Outlaw's forums. I have a 340C (classic) and plan on getting HTM 200's and an Outlaw Audio 1070. I also have a Hsu VTF-2 Mk2 sub.

This should be a great sounding system. Since you had the 1070 and Asscend, what are your thoughts please?

Liz

Lizard - I really liked the sound of the Ascends and the 1070. Like you said I posted my impressions at the Outlaw forum - you can find them here:

I just ordered a set of 340SE's to use with an Outlaw RR2150 2 Channel Receiver. I've had the receiver for a couple of months now using it with both a set of home built MTM's and a set of EPI T/E 320's. The Outlaw is quite an impressive unit, plenty of power, it sounds very crisp and clear especially compared to the Sony HT Receiver I previously had. The home built speakers are 6.5" woofers in a sealed enclosure couple with a sub, good sound but I'm ready for a change and I can use the speakers elsewhere. The EPI's sound great but the '70-80's style just doesn't fit.

I'm looking forward to hearing the 340's with the Outlaw, I have no regrets with the RR2150 so far it's been a very impressive unit, well worth the price.
