I was thinking of using the HTM-200 as a travel speaker. Buying just one of them and using a Sonic Impact amplifier to drive it. What are the forums thoughts on that? I own all of Ascends other products (the CMTs and the CBMs). I want the same sound when I'm traveling. This is the best solution I can come up with. Do you have any other suggestions? I would be throwing the HTM in a suitcase which would go under the plane. Do you guys have another speaker in mind that would reproduce the same quality sound and is smaller?

Thank you,

Ben

They aren't the smallest, but if you had room and were on the road a lot, it would be neat. I have a pair at work in my office.

HTD Middies (http://www.htd.com/Middy-Compact-Speaker) would be smaller and cheaper, although I don't know that they would sound as good.

I want to get the best travel solution speaker without spending too much. The Middy looks like a good solution with a cheap price. Does it blow away any iPod travel friendly solutions like the **** SoundDock or Klipsch Pro Media speakers? Have you heard the Middy? I have never seen / heard of these speakers before. I saw another small solution called the TBI Diamond speakers ( http://www.tbisound.com/index.asp ) but they are too expensive.

Thank you,

Ben

I forgot to ask if you know how it sounds compared to a Tivoli Model One as well / either.

I can't answer your sound questions since I haven't heard them. They had Middies at the recent bookshelf comparison here - http://av123forum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18263

So you can try asking in that thread. The comment they made about them was:

HTD Middies
"tiny but sounded suprisingly good for their size, true to their name, just mids, less resolving by a fair margin in the highs & low end, out of their league aganst larger more full range bookshelves, would be decent to use as part of a budget HT setup wth a good sub"

Thanks for the recco. Through further research it looks like the Middy can't compare to the Ascends but the Ascends cost a lot more. The Middy seems to be good sound for the price that I wouldn't have a problem checking under the plane (because of the price) and has a size advantage. I'll check it out since they have a 30 day return policy. Thanks
