I need some advice:
I am going with the 340SE for my front three speakers. For my side and rear surrounds would it be okay to just use the HTM200, or would I be losing out on intensity over 340Se all the way around?
I have read that the side and rear surrounds do not have that much recorded material to need larger speakers.
Input please!

It depends on several factors.

Would this setup be for HT / Movies only, or would you also be listening to multi-chanel music (SACD - DVD-A)?

How large of a space do you have?

These are just two of the many parts to the puzzle that will be your setup. ;)

Many folks love the 200's. I have 170's for surrounds but, with the amount of material presented through the surrounds, I would have been quite happy with the 200's I think. IMHO the 340's as surrounds are overkill. The only reason to justify more than 200's or 170's as surrounds would be multi-channel music. Even then (unless you are a REAL mult-channel addict) I'd be willing to bet my next hog-sales check (I am a hog farmer-for real) that the 200's would be great.

I have this exact setup and have been listening to alot of muti channel music lately and the 200's sound great! My wife and I used to watch nothing but movies but since we have the Ascend's we have purchased several concerts and now look for more and more music DVD's.

The HTM-200 is such a great speaker that, since your room is not that big, you'd be very happy even with 5 of them all around your HT.

I have heard Debo's setup and agree that 200's are plenty good speakers

I think he and his wife became more interested in concert DVD's after I brought the 2006 DTS sampler DVD over when I auditioned his setup ;)

Thanks Ed,
You sure did. We where in Chicago last weekend and spent over a hour in Virgin Records checking out all of the Music DVD's.

Glad I could open the door for you and your lovely wife!

I was in Chi-town once back in 1984. Loved it! What a fun time I had for sure!

OK, I think I am definately leaning towards the 340SE for LCR and the 200s for the rear and sides. That will save me some $$ I can put into the sub.
