All.
After some serious rearranging, I am pleased to announce a true .73 setup :D

My sweet-spot listening distance is now 10 ft., and the distance btwn. the speakers is 7.3 ft.

I'm in the process of room treatments, but what I've done so far has made a huge distance and the 340SE's sound better than they had in the past... and they always sounded great!

Anyway, I needed to move my sub to a more 'open' area on the right side of the unit. It used to be in the corner to the left of the setup, in front of the CD rack. It was good... but a bit boomy. Now: no boom, but different. So far I had to make a phase (about 95 deg.) and level adjustment, but I think some more tweaking is in order.

So, just want to brag a bit and show off the new setup and praise the Ascend 340SE's once again. :D

cheers!

Nice clean looking setup you have there. I like how your plasma doesn't have any speakers on it.

What's that on the bottom of your SVS sub? Is it some type of foam to make the bass better?

The 340s actually look 0.74 apart. :D Very nice setup.

BTW, what's hidden behind the TV just next to the base of the TV stand?

I think it's an Auralex Subdude.

Thanks all...
Yes, it's an Auralex Subdude. It really seems to tighten up the bass a bit.

The 'things' behind the plasma are a couple of old, small KLH speakers that I'm using with the monitor's output for news, Daily Show, and things that don't need the whole system fired up. The space between the monitor and the 'credenza' is just enough to get some sound through. It actually sounds better than one might suspect. ;)

The piece of furniture was custom made here in CA, near me. Mizzico is the company.

The ones they have for normal orders have some 'issues', so you have to be real careful when ordering. They are very accommodating.

The main issue I had is that the center speaker opening was obviously wide enough. It was nicely tall enough for the 7.5" height... but... it wasn't deep enough! True enough. If I hadn't gotten them to cut a hole in the back panel of the space (which for some ridiculous reason they put about midway!), the 340SEc would have stuck out about 3 inches!

Now... it's nearly perfect.;)

Watched a bit o' War of Worlds this evening (in HD). Rocked the house! :D

cheers

Edit... I hadn't realized until just now, looking at these two photos, that you can just make out the rear chanel speakers (340's) in the reflection in the monitor. Hehehe....

could you link me to a place to buy those stands? i really like the way they look with the ascends, and i've been leary to spend money on stands rated at 20 pounds when the 340s weigh 26!

Steve, I bought these stands locally when I purchased a set of PSB's a couple years ago. I bought them for convenience more than anything else, though they are not 'bad' and currently are the exact height needed. They cost me $100, and I believe they are PSB stands. Good luck.

Meanwhile, have you scoured Racks & Stands? I know there a lot of good stands out there, including the ones that Ascend offers.
