I am ready to order, and I prefer the look of a "monitor" speaker on an attrative stand, as opposed to the speaker look like a floor standing tower. Anybody have any stands that they really like to recommend? Any pics??

Check out the stands that Curtis had made (I think by RAD) - http://www.frappr.com/ascendacousticsowners/photo/514406

Very nice looking stands, IMO. If you don't want the wood look, check out some of the other threads here on stands like this: http://forum.ascendacoustics.com/showthread.php?t=1599 (the thread is about 170 stands, but most companies make different height versions of the same stands).

I purchased these:

I'm generally happy with them, well-made. You just have to like silver. They seem to match the functional look of the 340 SEs perfectly.

I built these for real cheap:

Sorry I don't have any pictures with the 340s on them - I'll get around to buying a digital camera one of these days :D But they did look good on them.

That's what sandpaper and paint were made for. :)

Thanks for the advice and links. Those home built stands look nicer than the "Store bought". But, since I have enough trouble hooking up the speaker wires, I'll have to buy.

Here are some stands I bought for my 340s (wife vetoed the Ascend stands, LOL) which I’ve been very happy with, they look good, were easy to assemble and very reasonably priced:

http://www.wood-tech.com/product.php?cat=ss&series=mu

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/search-handle-url/index=electronics&field-keywords=mu-30&field-browse=172282&search-type=ss&bq=1&store-name=electronics/ref=xs_ap_sai4_xgl23/002-1299225-8744028

It’s usually very hard to find good speaker stands locally; selection is usually poor and prices grossly inflated. Here are some good online sources:

partsexpress.com
hififorless.com
cousinsvideo.com
racksandstands.com (a little expensive but huge selection)

I got these Omnimount 24's from ebay for less than $50.
You can get them at Best Buy also.

Is anybody using these stands with their 340s. Are they stable enough for 340??

should be fine, the only one that looks a bit flimsy is the SW-24.

Those look nice, but I think you would want something with more mass/weight to be more sturdy.
