I went through this a couple years ago when I did my setup for my loft. I was looking for a small setup that could power a halfway decent set of speakers. I found that you REALLY pay a premium for the small size and give up a LOT of features. In the end I wound up purchasing one of Marantz' half height receivers (NR1504).
I would encourage you to look at a Marantz is the space permits, it has all the features you want. Granted it's a multichannel receiver, but ticks all the other boxes, and has good clean honest 50W/ch.
