10 pairs for $30:

That's all you need for 5 speakers.
I got 10 pairs of these at partsexpress.com:

They have a hole in the side and you put the wire in and tighten from the top - basically like a binding post.
I had some issues with plugs from parts express that look like these. The plugs separated from the body.Originally Posted by cyberbri

On several of these (I bought a bunch), when I pulled the plug from the speaker or receiver, the part that was in the speaker stayed in the speaker and the rest separated. I've never had this happen with other BP's including others I purchased for parts express.Originally Posted by cyberbri

They look good, very solid. Have not hooked them up yet though.
Thanks for the tip Curtis
I'm new to this...why are there two separate parts?Originally Posted by bikeman

I have a Panasonic XR70 -- regular binding posts for left-and-right front and hold-n-release for center and surround. (Ah! I didn't know what little I do now when I bought it!). I have Belden 5000UE 12 gauge from Blue Jeans...it won't fit in the center/surround -- is the following good for this center/surround connection?

If it was a good idea, I'd just buy a new receiver, but I've had the XR70 and DVD S97 sitting around for some time while I decided on speakers (and saved more money to pay for it), and I think it's best now to wait for HD-DVD/Blu-Ray to settle, plus HDMI 1.3, before new purchase. So I'm kinda stuck w/ this potentially crappy connection. I'm looking at 340s across front and 200 surround -- and I gotta connect it with a substandard connection, to my knowledge.
I've heard a few Ascend people praise this digital amp, esp w/ Ascend. Hoping for advice.
How do get the wire into the pin and fasten it?
