    Default New Outlaw Pre/Pro

    Check this out. http://www.outlawaudio.com/990_F_sm.jpg
It has DVI switching, but no HDMI or Firewire. Don't know the price, yet.

Timing is going to be everything on this unit. If they don't deliver soon and get a good amount of positive feedback on the forums, it's gonna be tough on Outlaw. They've fallen behind in the upgrade wars.

Their products look fuglier than hell, but who can argue with a $699 pre/pro?
    I didn't...

My next pre/pro will have a parametric EQ with a decent amount of filters for each channel along with good bass management for analog bypass or I'll just sit on my Outlaw 950.

I was going to wait until a pre/pro with HDMI and Firewire became affordable, but then there's support for the hi-def Dolby Digital and DTS sound around the corner. If I wait for a SOTA pre/pro, I'm afraid I'll be waiting forever. They always seem to lag behind receivers as far as switching and inputs are concerned.

I admit, I never liked the Outlaw "green", but I do like the plain and business like look of the 990....reminds me of NAD equipment.

Like David said...timing is HUGE. To me, with the UL listing on the back panel, I think the unit is ready to ship.

This is suppose to be the mate for Outlaw's new 300Wx7 amplifier...
    Balanced outputs/inputs.

I bet products with similar features won't be anywhere near the 990's price point though...

I totally agree. That is also how I feel about my P-965, so I am very curious about the 990's price tag/specs.

Curtis, I also noticed the UL tag on the back. Someone more familiar with the way products are developed may correct me, but it seems like getting approval from Underwriters Labs would come last after everything is in its final form. If that's the way it happens, then I agree with Curtis that the unit is ready to ship.

I thought I read that they planned for it to debut at just over $1000.
