Just in need of some advice

i say try the 170s and see how you like them. you could always use them as surrounds if you wanted to try 340s in the future. that's what i did.

in general i'd say if you prefer a balanced sound then you might prefer ascends.
i prefer a balanced response from my favorite guitar so that's why i believe i like ascends.
