I'd reconsider the decision on using the 340s as surrounds...yes they'd work on taller stands but toppling over would be my fear...with kids or pets...ideally you should be ~5ft above listener...any way of mounting them or installing shelves?

Something like this...I've used in the past.Screenshot_20231211_122947_Chrome.jpg

@billy p Surrounds 5 feet above the listener? I think it's more like a couple of feet (maybe 2, give or take) - so like 5-6 feet from the floor.

So the couch is 32” high and the 340 on the stand is 23” on the bottom to about 43 1/2” to the top. You guys think that’s too much getting cut off?

However my head would be above the couch anyway so am I missing that much?

You can always experiment...the purpose of surrounds is to create spaciousness and not designed for direct radiation...dolɓy specs iirc...recommend 1ft-2ft above your head angled inwards at equalaterally distance from CC or main speakers. Nothing about this hobby is etched in stone...see how it sounds to you ...work with what you have.

In this case, I would recommend coming up with a method to raise the speakers higher so that the tweeter is clear of the couch.

So, I am planning something stupid.

Mounting these as Atmos height channels. At this price per box, they absolutely blow Arendal, KEF, all the major players out of the water. Only problem is, 30lbs and mechanics, I got handymen I trust for that.

Only issue is the rear port. These would be as close to on wall as possible, but, with a strong downward angle. So, 3-12" port to wall distance for sure. In this case, assume left and right of the speaker would be bass traps. I am thinking piles of the triangle traps.

My question is, do I leave the rear port, or, do I stuff some old socks in it?
