    Default Alternate Speaker Mounts

I need a pair of wall mounts for my 170's but don't want to spend $80. What other wall mounts have people used successfully?

    I am currently using these:

$30 from PartsExpress, can hold up to 50lbs, and mount at any angle. The only catch is you'll have to make a connector braket (I made mine from 3/4" mdf) or drill into the 170s because the holes on the mounts are vertically aligned, not horizontal like on the speaker.

Thanks - I'll put those on my short list. I was hoping to find mounts with horizontal screw holes to match the Ascend's but this could work.

Well, certainly let us know if you find some. I looked all over creation before I settled on the PartsExpress one...

Try Ebay. I just picked up a pair of the Omnimount 30-lb mounts for $43.00, including shipping. Just search on Omnimount.

I just went to home depot and bought some prebuilt wooden shelves. cut the shelf to fit my speaker exactly and painted it the same color as the wall (you could paint it black to match the speaker). it truly disappears- cost was less than $20.

That sounds like a good, cheap solution, but are they flush against the wall? If so, that rear port needs some space to perform optimally. I also needed to angle mine...

mine are actually a couple inches from the wall. I guess you could make a shim of some sort (doorstop) to angle them- as long as it isn't too big of an angle.

I just ordered 340s for fronts & center and 170s for surround. This should be a big step forward for me from BIC DV-62CLRS fronts & center and JBL N24II surround. Anyway, I ordered B-Tech BT77 from crutchfield.
    B-Tech BT77 It's $59.99 + $5.99 shipping per pair.

It's adjustable side grip bracket. It turns 180 degrees to left or right and tilts up or down 7 degrees. Best of all it accomodates 170 perfectly and you don't need any screws to hold the speaker.

    Question Kye...

Have you actually mounted the 170s with those B-Techs or are you speculating at this point? I'm curious to hear your real-world experience with them since I'm debating how to mount mine in the new house. Thanks!
