Default Crossover for CBM 170/340C/170 etc.

    I have a 7.1 setup of CBM 170 L/R 340 Center, HTM 200 SL/SR and CBM 170 RSL/RSR with a newly acquired Rythmik LV12R.

All speakers are set to small and with the crossover at each speaker at 80hz, I was wondering if I should go a lil lower on the center as Audyssey set it 40hz?

    I'm using this setup for 90% movies/TV.

With a sub, I see no reason to go much below 80 hz. You could try as low as 60 hz to see if it sounds better to you. Better to let the sub handle the low frequencies, IMO.

I am surprised Audyssey set the center that low. Where'd it set the other channels?

When I had a 340 center Audyssey usually selected 40hz for the crossover. I usually bumped it up to 60.

For CMT-340's - I recommend a crossover range between 60-80Hz. Audyssey rarely gets this right.

I thought I'd like a 60hz crossover with my Sierra-1/2s and pair of Rythmik L12s, but I got a lot more punch/impact from the crossover being set at 80hz. Some of it depends on the room. It's easy to switch it all to 80hz and compare yourself.

80hz and Small has been the tried and true for bass management. If anything you could try to raise it to 90hz and free up a little horsepower in your AVR. You could experiment with that. It's not waisting your speakers by any means as some claim by setting it at 80 or 90hz no matter what speakers you have but I definitely wouldn't go lower than 80. Just my opinion.
