Default Gloss Espresso and Gloss Dark Cherry finishes

I noticed if you go to purchase a single Sierra 2 center speaker that there are "Gloss Espresso" and "Gloss Dark Cherry" finish options available. Has anyone purchased these? I would love to see some nice photos!

Huh, where do you see that? We haven't offered those finishes in about 7 years now.

In the drop down menu where you select your finish.

That's too bad those aren't offered anymore. I bet the glossy espresso was gorgeous!

I have the gloss espresso for my front three. I have matte espresso for my surrounds. I personally like the matte better.

You can do a Google image search for "Ascend Sierra gloss" and see lots of images of the high gloss finishes in cherry and espresso.

Here's a link to my Google image search:

Wow, those really are beautiful! I wonder why they were discontinued?

They were discontinued because as more and more consumers build dual usage systems, for music and home theater, piano gloss / high gloss became more and more unpopular. This is because in a typical environment with the speakers placed to the left / right of a TV, and center below TV - with the lights off, the high reflectivity of the finish reflects the TV picture and is quite distracting.

With decreasing demand and very large price increases, continuing to manufacture these was not cost-effective. As such, we switched to the current satin finishes which appeal to more consumers.

One criteria I had when I built my new system was 'No gloss on ANY speaker/sub cabinet'. Seriously. No way, especially piano black gloss.

My little black shiny PS3 Super Slim is annoying enough with dust and scratches.

Also saved me a few bucks, but that wasn't my primary motivation in any way.
