    Default Luna vs HTM-200 Atmos

Hey guys, currently have a 5.1 setup

    LCR - Sierra-2
    Rears - HTM-200
    Sub - Rythmik E15HP
    AVR- Yamaha RX-A780

My AVR can do Atmos at 5.2.2. Thinking about adding overheads front of the couch to unlock Atmos. Question is has anyone went from the HTM-200 to The Lunas for surround speakers and found the Luna upgrade worth the extra cost over the HTM-200?

The HTM-200 can be mount on the ceiling facing down right?

I've been planning the same thing for surrounds and moving the 200se for Atmos front height application. Might be some time though because of the exchange rate....$1148us is roughly ~$1550.00 cdn plus the added shipping and HST.

I planned on driving to visit family in Arizona, once the all clear is given...I might order, ship there to save the tax and additional shipping costs. But who knows... when that will be, with what is going on Stateside and covid19 lately.

I currently have a 7.1 system with Raal Towers and Horizon fronts, Lunas as side surrounds, and HTM-200s as rear surrounds. I can say that they blend quite well. If I play in mono out of a single speaker and switch between the Lunas and HTM-200s I can pick out a difference (at least I think I can - I haven't conducted this experiment blind), however I find them indistinguishable in movies.

I went with HTM-200s for side, rear AND Atmos overheads and love them! You could do Lunas in some of those spots but that's a lot of extra cash for a use I bet you'd be hard pressed to notice. I couldn't.

I went from HTM-200s to Sierra-1s to 2s to Lunas. For me it was worth it because of listening to multi-channel music. Having voices and instruments discreetly placed in the rear channels made upgrading from the HTM-200s worth it. Going to the Lunas helped with getting the placement where I wanted it.

Yes, HTM-200s can be mounted on the ceiling facing down. I put mine at the top of my rear wall20180104_213912.jpg. I recovered mine in white vinyl and speaker cloth to blend in better.

I went Atmos a few years ago -- really cool for movies. Use HTM200 for front/rear ATMOS (high on wall, near ceiling, pointed towards MLP). Moved my S2 to surrounds when I picked up my Towers w/ RAAL and Luna Duo for center.
